What’s Your Dog Type?

In this awesome Howcast video, Robert Haussman, a certified professional dog trainer, shows us how to pick the perfect dog.

First, he says to make sure your lifestyle matches your dog’s personality. If you’re a little more on the quiet side, you probably shouldn’t pick a breed like an Australian shepherd, he says. Furthermore, you should also base your expectations off of the dog’s breed.

What’s Your Dog Type

If you have a chihuahua, you probably shouldn’t expect it to win any agility competitions or be super athletic. Finally, use your common sense. Don’t just pick a dog solely based on your heart. You have to make logical conclusions as well, like if you’re even capable of taking care of that specific dog breed.

Pick the dog that has the perfect size and weight for you, and you’re on the right track.

Can Dogs Really Eat Our Leftovers?

Okay, it’s been asked time and time again, but can dogs really eat human food?

Some say yes, and some say no. The fact is that for most “people food” dogs can easily digest it. Evidence says that our primitive ancestors fed dogs their leftovers around the same time they started domesticating them. Through the medieval times and all the way up to the nineteenth century, people still generally fed their dogs whatever was available. But as society progressed, many starting feeling the need to provide quality food to better suit dog dietary needs.

So, by the Industrial age, both wet and dry dog food came into mass production and were a huge hit. Dry dog food eventually gained the upper hand, and after that and some propaganda-like ads we never really went back to feeding our dogs human food.

The truth is, dogs can eat most foods except chocolate, alcohol, yeast, and coffee. Other than that, you’re pretty much good to go.
